ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - Every June, millions of people around the world celebrate Pride Month, recognizing the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community.

Beginning in honor of the Stonewall uprising of 1969 in New York City which led to the modern-day gay liberation movement in the United States. President Bill Clinton marked its commemoration for the first time in 1998. Earlier this month, Mayor Tom McNamara issued a proclamation for the Forest City.
