ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) - A Rockford family is looking for justice and answers after they say a stray bullet took the life of their 15-year-old son.

Malah’ki Lee was getting off the bus from school when he was shot around 4 p.m. on Nov. 23 in the 900 block of Ashland Ave. His mother tells 23 News she heard shots outside before finding her son lying in the street with nobody around.

Now, Malah’ki’s parents, Coretta Meeks and Brian Lee, beg anyone with information on the shooting to come forward and do the right thing.

Lee’s death was Rockford’s 22nd fatal shooting of 2021, following a record-breaking 36 in 2020.
